A Type 6 (Class 6) chemical indicator is an emulating indicator used inside individual sterilization packs, trays, or pouches to verify that specific, predetermined cycle parameters (such as time and temperature) have been met.
Unlike Class 5 integrating indicators that cover a range of cycles, Type 6 indicators are strictly calibrated to a specific sterilization cycle (commonly 134°C for 3.5 minutes or 121°C for 15 minutes).
Placed directly inside the pack, tray, or peel pouch next to or under the instruments to ensure the sterilant and heat reached the center of the load.
